Fit and Healthy #BEDM

This is probably going to be a somewhat shorter, less well-formed post this evening as I'm on my mobile (and my annoyance at the auto-correct has the potential to give me a coronary). I've been on a day trip with my parents today, we drove down to here near Southend-On-Sea, and I've not had a chance to get on WiFi.

Back to the topic at hand: fit and healthy eh? Well, I'd say I'm not very fit at all really. In a recent lung test, I learnt my lungs behave 10 years older than they actually are. Nope, not a smoker. Just my asthma. I do like sport, being active and keeping fit and healthy, though. Or trying at least.

The gym is my first port of call. I'm really not a runner (I find it boring and get rather bad shin splints) so it's aerobics, Zumba, the bike or crosstrainer, and free weights. In Manchester, I cycled everywhere but I don't have my bike with me in Bristol and I really miss it. : ( Tomorrow I shall be taking the opportunity to go for a little bike ride to the local arboretum. And because I love a good photo, here's a picture of my bi-wheeled bestie. I've had her since I was 13!

I also dance like a bit of a nutter on a night out if that counts? No, OK then.

Cake is a weakness for me but otherwise I try to eat healthily. Fresh fruit, veg and fish/seafood feature a lot. I rarely eat bread and when I do it's brown and/or seeded. The way I cook food is quite important too, I don't fry too much and try not to use a lot of oil when I do. And it's all about steamed or oven baked fish.

I've recently shaken up the way I eat quite a bit actually. I've introduced Intermittent Fasting (IF) as part of what you might've heard of as the 5:2 diet, the fast diet or similar. It's actually working really well. Click above to read more about it. I need to write an update post really.

Lastly, I think it's quite important to maintain a healthy mind; something often neglected by many of us. That can mean a lot of different things to different people. But a mixture of good food, great friends and family, fun times and getting out and about or being active is what works for me.

Tips and advice? I don't really have any. Apart from perhaps try to enjoy life and the rest will come? Pearls of wisdom I'm sure. Not.

    1. Thanks! It's pretty interesting stuff and seems to have worked well for a lot of people. I hope to do an update post soon, when there's something worth updating on that is.
